The sound of snow.
Could air through leafless branches.
The analogue buzz of tape recordings, hovering between snowy trees.
Photophob spent some time recording the sounds of a winter forest and used them as basis for 6 ambient/drone tracks, strictly following the workflow below:
Step #1: record analogue synth sounds on cassette tape (using only vintage equipment from the 70ies to 90ies) *
Step #2: play back these sounds in a winter forest (using a vintage tape recorder from the 60ies) **
Step #3: re-record these sounds together with the winter forest ambience (using state-of-the-art field recording equipment) ***
Step #4: edit, process and manipulate these field recordings at will. ****
