Pulse State - Embers

Press Release
Shortly after the release of Pulse State's début album, With a Single Step (2008), project founder and sole studio member Mike Phipps began incorporating darkwave and darker synthpop elements into the PS framework. The initial fruits of these labors were documented on 2012's The Science of Despair (as well as its attendant EP releases in 2012-13).
Those integration efforts have continued since then, as evidenced by the new Pulse State single, Embers. The PS sonic palette now features more darkwave influences, including guitar parts, which hearken back to the sound of the '80s and '90s classic dark rock and Goth acts; however, this is still balanced with the familiar mix of synthpop and melodic EBM for which Pulse State initially became known. On the single's five tracks (two of which were created exclusively for this release), the gamut is run between all of these influences to varying degrees, tied together both thematically and by the common thread of Mike's signature vocals.
Pulse State's artistic journey, now in its 18th year, has reached its latest milestone with the Embers single, which also serves as a small sampling of what the forthcoming album, Black Highway, will deliver. You are invited to listen, to dance, to reflect, and most importantly, to live your life to this music. Released exclusively on the Pulse State Bandcamp page.
