Ontal - Entropia

Press Release
From well-kept secret to one of the most praised names for dark, distorted techno, Ontal are already among the most talked about names for the genre. With "Entropia", this Serbian duo gets the chance to display its talent in a full-length format, offering very diverse material rich in heavy percussive beats, grating noise soundscapes and dynamic arrangements. Drawing inspirations from industrial forefathers as well as from modern producers, Ontal confirms with this album its position as one of the driving force when it comes to heavy, noisy and precise composition. Ever-changing but constantly powerful, "Entropia" is an industrial tour-de-force.
"Entropia" is the first full length solo album by Ontal, a duo based in Subotica, Serbia, which has gained a wide recognition since its inception in 2011. Formed by Boris Brenecki (formerly active as Noiz and Lost In The Sound) and Darko Kolar (also known as Unknown Structures), Ontal has unleashed a series of highly regarded records on a variety of labels in the last couple of years, presenting a powerful combination of apocalyptic techno and forward-thinking industrial music.
Finally having a chance to present their music on a longer format, these two producers are able to unfold the scope of their talent. Usually known for their sharp and percussive club-oriented material, they take the time to lay down longer, complex tracks on "Entropia", filling them with atmospheric elements, breaks and glitches. True to its name, this album is constantly shifting and venturing towards new sonic territories. Nothing was left to chance, however: Ontal's sound is a highly constructive, thought off and dynamic one.
The industrial and techno genres, long separated, have been embracing each others in the recent years, with acts, festivals and fan-bases blurring the lines between distortion and bass-drums, between darkness and club drive. A perfect culmination of this evolution, Ontal draw their inspiration from Zoviet France or Throbbing Gristle as much as from Jeff Mills and Speedy J. Tracks such as "Entropia" and "Transmigration" are examples of this mixture of style, combining a strong experimental edge with highly innovate rhythmic structures.
Ad Noiseam is proud to welcome Ontal again, after their remarked remix on Fausten's 2013 debut and to be able to present this duo's first album. Enriched by collaborations with Mute's 2nd Gen and a return of Fausten, "Entropia" is a remarkable work which confirms the newfound originality and strength of industrial-sounding, beat driven music.
