Eric Van Wonterghem, the man behind Monolith, is one of the most important figures to come out of Belgium's electronic music scene. Dating back to the start of the 1980's, Eric started off as the composer for legendary minimal synth act Absolute Body Control alongside lyricist Dirk Ivens. In 1984 Absolute Body Control would join forces with Marc Verhaegen and Sandy Njis. The band would change musical direction, veering into much darker and more experimental-driven industrial territories, altering their band name to Absolute Controlled Clinical Maniacs and soon settling on shortened version "The Klinik". The Klinik would explode on the underground electronic industrial scene in mainland Europe throughout the 80's and would go on to be recognized as one of the all time most influential acts from the European industrial/EBM scene.
Eric left The Klinik in the late '80's and would form another highly respected Belgium EBM band with vocalist and drummer Mario Vaerewijck, "Insekt". The band would go on to release several albums and singles throughout the late 80's into the mid 90's on the famed KK Records imprint.During the early to mid 90's a new industrial sound with an emphasis on heavily distorted drums and percussions would emerge under the name "rhythmic noise". Eric, at the forefront of this sound, would soon create his solo artist project "Monolith", releasing the full length "Compressed Form" in 1997 on his old partner Dirk Iven's Daft imprint. Eric would then also take up position in "Sonar" a very popular rhythmic noise project helmed by Dirk Iven's. If not already having his hands full with both projects, Eric and Dirk, driven by the popular demand arising from the resurgence of minimal synth music, would go on to reactivate the legendary Absolute Body Control in the early 2000's. Eric continues to be highly active in the industrial/EBM/minimal synth music scene, playing major events and festivals, the likes of Mera Luna, Wave Gotik Treffen and Maschinenfest and regularly traveling around the globe to perform as part of one of the many projects he is involved in.
In 2003 Eric became close friends with techno producer and label owner Adam X of Sonic Groove Records. A bond was formed and over the years, they have both released music on the other's respective label. In the past years, the techno scene has taken a strong interest in industrial music and with Adam being one of the very first pioneers of the merging between both genres on Sonic Groove and Eric being one of the top innovators of the industrial rhythmic, forces are now joined for the second time in two years with the new Monolith release, "Time Running Out".
"Time Running Out" is cutting edge, post contemporary industrial-techno music with highly percussive drum programming and infectious sound design set to overrun dance floors. Besides his busy production schedule, Eric also works as a highly skilled mastering engineering for many a famous industrial/EBM acts as well as for classic 90' Belgium techno labels like R&S and Re-Load. With over three decades experience, his engineering skills shine crystal clear with razor sharp production on his latest four cut EP for Sonic Groove. "Time Running Out" is an absolute must for anyone into Rhythmic Industrial and techno.

Way back when futurepop was dominating the dance-floors and the scene, the appearance of xotox paralleled the spirit of those times with his own unique sound.
Since then, the distorted beats of the debut album "Lichtlos" and subsequently, the clubhit "Eisenkiller" brought the scene to boiling point; catapulting xotox to the top of DJ-playlists, culminating as the "first industrial-act ever", to take the top spot of the German Alternative Charts (DAC) circa 2003/2004.
The EP "die Unruhe" (2004) and the following album "[PSI]" (2005) consolidated xotox's status as an exceptional artist who remains true to his sound without self-repetition; unafraid of experimentation.
Following albums in 2006 and 2008 , included the live "Dokumentation 1: Ton" and "in den zehn Morgen"; and again reached No. 1 in the DAC. After a split-album and two re-releases "Schwanengesang" was launched in 2013. This album, that was distinguished by its rough and dark sounds, was swiftly followed by "Redux"; an extraordinary add-on 12" vinyl (2014).
xotox is still regarded as an originator of the genre that has served many artists as an inspiration; refreshing and re-establishing his sound with each new release.
Now, "Essentials" presents us with a cross-section of Andreas David?s work; covering all of his output since his ground-breaking debut, "Lichtlos". with this release french artist jérôme chassagnard continues the concept work he began on the 2014 album 'inner dialog', a reflection of his personal and artistic mind. for the creation of 'outer dialog' jérôme decided to work with someone he musically and personally admired, a collaboration that perfectly symbolizes the change from acting as an introvert towards a more extroverted approach. for this reason he worked with musician, composer and good friend jérémie mathes. jérémie had already participated on 'inner dialog' and had a breadth of experience as a solo artist himself, and he was able to add a number of different musical points of view to jérôme's already detailed concept.

metroid: the sky calls - a new live action short from rainfall films and director sam balcomb
(los angeles, november 2nd, 2015)

the classic nintendo franchise, metroid, envisioned through the lens of 60s‐70s science fiction cinema such as 2001, alien, and solaris: this was the concept for rainfall films’ most recent production. last summer, fans voted for metroid as the next adaptation in rainfall’s 'fantasy filmmaking' project, which in the past has included viral hits like wonder woman, and the ign april fools legend of zelda trailer. since voting concluded, the rainfall team, director sam balcomb and producers jesse soff and jeff dodson, have worked on transitioning the sci‐fi property into a short film presentation. the result is metroid: the sky calls, a twelve minute adventure exploring deep space and strange alien signals with intergalactic bounty hunter samus aran. instead of using a modern approach, director balcomb chose to incorporate a style more in tune with the types of films that inspired the first metroid game in 1986 (which named one of its creatures after ridley scott), favoring exploration and isolation over action spectacle. techniques including vhs transfers and custom scanned 16mm film stock were implemented to give the short its retro look.
composer dodson’s original score pays homage to composers jerry goldsmith and james horner, while the sound design was specifically tailored to evoke both sci‐fi classics and the video game’s iconic universe. ten captivating sketches of symphonic ambience which also work nicely as a stand-alone release, displaying jeff's long-standing experience as a professional sound designer who is also well-known for his' project defrag.
in the process of creating samus, rainfall approached two actors to fill the role: jessica chobot (nerdist) for live action, and america young (monster high, halo 5) for motion capture and stuntwork. the two performances worked in tandem, bringing to life one of the most groundbreaking female characters in video game history. for the cast and filmmakers, it was a pleasure to create this experimental take on a beloved franchise, and they hope viewers will enjoy the adventure.

a highly emotional and versatile release where the lucidity of the digital age clashes with analogue roughness and a title whose different meanings like metamorphosis, change or realization are all relevant and correct.

since the beginning, a distinguishing feature of iscoloscope has been the addition of intelligent and unexpected details to the basic ingredients that industrial music is known for. this, the project's seventh full length album 'false vacuum' raises the already high bar yann faussurier set on his previous releases in a most astounding way.
within these nine tracks iszoloscope is establishing ties between a myriad of different styles ranging from solemn orchestral constructs and rich dark ambient soundscapes to sequenced hard-hitting technoid industrial rhythms and fast remorseless drum and bass beat structures. mighty pulsating sub basses and loony melodic curls, hypnotic percussion and carefully placed bursts of electronics evoke highly energetic atmospheres of power and tension that resonate inside the listener's mind.
accompanied by many personal changes it took iszolocsope nearly four years to complete this opus, and after taking a deep view everyone will agree it was worth waiting for. highly recommended.

“Trust No Bitch” is actually taken from the band’s forthcoming mini-album “American Love Story” which is the soundtrack that JUNKSISTA scored for the award winning horror short film by talented director Timur Örge (Mumukuba). Darker and rougher than ever, this song also gets reworked in 4 radically different versions by the cyber industrial act XMH, the terror hellektro VENAL FLESH, the ambient techno RESTRICTION 9 as well as the edgy synth electro band DEKAD.
The video clip shot for “Trust No Bitch” serves as a perfect introduction to this JUNKSISTA-meets-horror journey, inspired by tension-loaded, emotional and bloody images. It nicely renders the overall aggressive and powerful vibe of the movie.
JUNKSISTA added to this single the exclusive self-bashing song “C.S.F.”, underlining once more the unique sense of humor of the band. This time questioning themselves: "What is wrong with us?"… A little provocative revenge song between mainstream funk and electro alt-pop with a touch of slut-industrial. This is C*nt Sh*t F**k!

In the summer of 2015, when announcing the upcoming release of the much awaited remastered version of their “No Comment” album due to arrive in spring 2016, FRONT 242 not only offered the unreleased RADICALG remix of “Take One” for free to their fans ( alfamatrix.bandcamp.com/album/lovely-day-remastered-take-one-radicalg-mix ), but also opened a remix competition for the same classic song as well.
Overwhelmed by the success of the competition and the several hundreds of remixes that got sent to Alfa Matrix, it took us much more time than initially expected to get all of these competition entries played to the various jury members and eventually reach a final top 3 of the most favorite remixes.
Today to thank you all for your much appreciated patience, we are proud to release with FRONT 242 the free “Detox Static” EP exclusively available only through Bandcamp. It features a remastered version of “Take One”, plus the remix work by the 6 (and not only 3!) first winners of the remix competition. Congratulations to AD:KEY, EISFABRIK, KANT KINO, TEFONIK, RESTRICTION 9 and DIGITAL 440 for being part of the “Detox Static” sonic adventure. And a big thank you to all of you who took part in the competition.
Enjoy this EP until we soon announce the upcoming remastered versions of several iconic FRONT 242 albums showcasing the band’s innovative sound in its best audio quality possible today. Andrea Bellucci and Andrew Lagowski are two inspired alchemists of electronic sound: they have developed over the years an highly sophisticated, intelligent and futuristic musical perception, constantly seeking a final balance between compositional perfection and an effective autonomous music dynamism, giving to their songs an artificial communicative energy. Through the project Dioxide the two protagonists were able to express the best of their creativity, realizing an album of great interest for the followers of 'braindance': Specular Mirrors.
Eight tracks fully instrumental integrate obscure, highly evocative and atmospheric elements, combining radically electronic structures with other ones classically IDM. Segmented, minimal rhythms and programmed schemes, actively interact with cold digitized modulations, evoking fantastic, cosmic, unsearchable images which transfix the listener's senses, virtually chaining him to the enchantment of these diaphanous frequencies. This release contains the best theorems of the ultra-modern electronic culture: the contact with "Specular Mirrors" is a unique experience that transcends the imaginable!
