LAN Formatique's sophomore outing, "The Sadness of Distances", at last gets a physical release by way of US label Signifier. The album finds the Scottish artist expertly blending electronic glitches, orchestral arrangements, post-rock guitars, field recordings and bold acoustic percussion to create a unique, genre-straddling sound while at the same time, remaining wholly personal.
Adding depth of emotion are vocal collaborations with electro chanteuse Céline and award-winning author Alasdair Gray, whose words and voices blend perfectly with the album's tone. "The Sadness of Distances" is a love letter to travel, loss, and transatlantic romance.
