Press Release Never ones to rest on their laurels, The Pain Machinery present the follow up to last year's critically acclaimed "Surveillance Culture". The new album "Restart" contains eight brand new tracks. More potent than ever before, the sound takes influences from classic UK synth punk, Chicago acid house and Belgian hardcore disco, combining them with a futuristic groove. This is music both for the mind and for the (darkest) dancefloors. The last record offered a savagely cynical take on social issues. This time the lyrics often focus on the personal, the result of a strenuous time for the band members. "We've both gone through some rough patches in the last years and a track like 'Damage' is reflective of that. 'Running Red' on the other hand is about smug do-gooders purporting to be the voice of reason when in fact they're often the most intolerant people around. We don't necessarily agree on politics within the band all of the time, but we share a dislike of hypocrites and obviously there's no shortage of those, whatever their political leanings." The Pain Machinery deploy classic hardware such as Sequential Circuits Pro One, Simmons electronic drums, Roland TR-606 as well as dysfunctional budget gear and scrap metal to produce their trademark hard rhythmic machine funk. This time, additional vocals come courtesy of Robert Lane of hotly tipped EBM sex beat operatives //TENSE//. "There Will be Blood" is laced with Robert's psychotic howls on a bed of throbbing industrial-strength acid house. "We share a similar vision with //TENSE// and we felt that he would be a good match for that track. We've worked with people like Jared Louche from Chemlab in the past and it's always interesting to have that element of unpredictability to keep you on your toes." "Restart" will be released 29 June, 2012 on vinyl, cassette and digital formats. All preorder comes with a bonus disc containing the digi-version. This disc is limited to preorder.
