After a one year, self-imposed hiatus, Ben Arp brings his dark electronic act, C/A/T, back with the new EP "Diamond Center".
Heavily influenced by 'witch house' and the more experimental days of 'industrial music', "Diamond Center" reflects a new direction for Arp's always evolving project.
"I think of this new rebirth of C/A/T as kind of a "gritty reboot" of the project," Arp said. "I'm really going back to basics and approaching producing how I used to when C/A/T was an entirely experimental project in the late 1990s."
That experimental tone is probably most reflected in the EP's final track, 'Opaque', which is a six minute long dark ambient and drone based affair.
"I think in a lot of ways, I'm sort of wearing my new influences on my sleeve a bit with this EP, but I don't necessarily think that is a bad thing. Assembling these songs was the most fun I've had in the studio in years."
Look for a full length album by C/A/T to follow in late 2012 or early 2013.
