Don Hill is known in the electronic music world for his project Millipede. He’s released three albums on Ant-Zen sub-label Hymen Records, and has also performed with the projects scrap/grinder (released on CRL Studios) and Porteur de l'Image. Beyond enriching our lives with music, Don’s a great husband to his wife Rebecca, and father to sons Sage, Jude, and Eden.
In October 2014, Don received a devastating diagnosis of stage 4 renal cancer. He’s since undergone surgery to remove the source, followed by a course of radiation therapy. Don is a fighter who has unbelievable strength and hope, but faces a tough battle against an aggressive cancer that has metastasized throughout his body, spreading to spread to his liver, spine, and lungs. In hopes of hindering further growth of cancerous cells and giving Don more time, he’s currently undergoing aggressive biological therapy to be followed by chemotherapy.
Hope and support are powerful things. The most important thing right now is the time Don has with his family by his side, along with the support of his church community, the music community, and friends across the globe. As one way of showing support, friends have raised money via gofundme.com/donhill, with nearly $8,000 raised to date.
Knowing the power of music to move people and give hope, Don’s vast network of friends rallied around him and came to his aid. The labels Ant-Zen and Signifier are donating proceeds to benefit the Hill family, and a benefit concert in Chicago is being organized for January 2015, and we at CRL Studios are trying to do our part.
Power Beyond Fathom: A Benefit For Don Hill is our attempt to help Don and his family. With a title influenced by Millipede’s “Powerless” album and the Porteur de’l’Image track “They Cannot Fathom”, this three-part compilation came about shortly after we learned of Don’s diagnosis. A huge group of talented artists mobilized to assemble this release as a way to show our support. Power Beyond Fathom spans a vast range of electronic music genres, and features artwork by Sean Forsythe. The release features additional promotional artwork by Jason Weaver and Ryan Northcott. Mastering donated by Tokee.
Part one consists of 16 tracks with a focus on the ambient, technoid, and IDM genres, including tracks from Displacer, Somatic Responses, Tapage, Mad EP, Endif, and more.
The second part features 16 tracks with a focus on the ambient and IDM genres, including tracks from Hecq, Dirk Geiger, Cloud Roots and more.
The third part features 15 additional tracks with a focus on industrial, EBM, and experimental genres, including tracks by mindfluxfuneral, :Wumpscut:, Psykkle, Worms Of The Earth and more. Also featured is "Cancer Can Not Stop the Millipede", produced by Microwaves shortly after they heard about Don's diagnosis.

Proceeds from the sale of this compilation go towards assisting Don and his family with a host of personal expenses related to his treatment and daily care.
