After more than eight years of existence Gigolo Records is still the most unconventional label in the world of electronic music and dance. And in 2006 HELL’s label is still looking in every direction to renew its style without forgetting, of course, its very own origins, those great artists that made its fame back in the days… And here comes the return of one early hero: This new year will witness the great return of one of the most respected artists of the techno scene, the frenchman TERENCE FIXMER. His stunning new album is called Silence Control and will not only please all his fans, but also attract all the lunatics of the darker sides of electronic music. FIXMER’s new album passionately refers to the EBM, industrial and no-wave movements which were highly affected by outrageously gorgeous acts like THROBBING GRISTLE, FRONT 242, or FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY. And the least we can say is that five years after his famous first album Muscle Machine, TERENCE FIXMER didn’t lose his appetite for destruction and for a dark techno style with no compromise. But while his first album was built around a few dark and violent loops that constituted the rythmic framework of his tracks, TERENCE FIXMER refined his sound and notably through his very successful collaboration with DOUGLAS McCARTHY, the legendary voice of NITZER EBB on his own label Planete Rouge, which resulted in the very successful album Between The Devil and several 12“ singles. The impact of his recent projects is clearly seen on Silence Control. A powerful mix between techno and EBM, where his love for hard techno beats and binary rythmic loops has joined his longstanding interest for dark analog electronic waves, a reboosted mixture that his fans can appreciate both on their home soundsystem and live, seeing FIXMER unleashing his electronic violence like an ear-blowing hurricane. Silence Control gathers 15 tracks of raw techno power. This is clearly an album which sees no fillers or heavy divergencies. Thus, it has a lucid structure foremostly enabled by three short tracks, that is Intro, EBX, and Outro. In dust sets the dark mood of the album with its furious basslines and its raw drumline. In the track called ‘Are you Electric?’ FIXMER managed to blend all his early musical influences and his passion for a rough and dirty techno sound. Oops contrasts with the other tracks because of the high-pitched sounds FIXMER used, while keeping that dark energy present in the album. Under The Rain and Get This are like two shouts to set ourselves free with the music, a state of mind common to all EBM and hard-techno lovers. And the track In green concludes the LP version in pure EBM style, as if you were trapped in the belly of a gigantic monster-machine! Constantly playlisted by the biggest DJs such as DAVE CLARKE or THE HACKER, TERENCE FIXMER won’t tarnish his reputation of a techno hardliner that makes his fans going mental everytime he is playing live. This album is seriously disadvised to the faint-hearted, as their mental sanity would be more than at risk!
