alchemy is an influential tradition whose practitioners have, from antiquity, claimed it to be the precursor to profound powers. these powers can transform physical energies, but besides that, a true alchemist also has the ability to perceive the world's essence behind its superficial appearance, and it is his challenge to use this ability for showing untaught and open-minded persons what is beyond the daily grind. three prominent and significant projects decided to discharge these powers by bundling their distinct creativity into the fascinating collaboration 'we are the alchemists'. the title is well-considered and it conveys a certain meaning: we all could be the alchemists if we really want to. gold is all around us and it's inside everything - let's release our hidden capacity to stay amazed. each band's characteristics and strengths realize their full potential in this amalgam: architect (daniel myer), sonic area (arnaud coëffic aka arco trauma) and hologram_ (martin delisle) splice a propellant multitude of powerful grooves, impulsive sequencer lines, atmospheric soundscapes, experimental synth layers and abstract bits and pieces while adding uncommon melodies and detached piano dots. an amplitude of styles between technoid breakbeats, idm, downtempo, modern classical and ambient merge into an ambitious work of contemporary electronica suitable for both listening and dancing - truly an alchemistic hybrid fusing three individuals into one.

he went out shopping to get some noise. he found out noise was out of stock. he analyzed noise trading - and nobody knows what happened since then. now that's what our secret agents could tell us: mr. d.myer, the architect, the apostle of st. vodka, the creator - he discovered how to use his lower lip interface. bits and pieces of information reached hymen records' office, packets of sound were transferred via internet within hours - a race against time, speed-frame technology and freeze-frame reality. but we made it and here's the final result.'lower lip interface' - an orgy of synth-wizardry, complex rhythms and manipulated vocals. forcing beats meet distorted sequences, overlayed with a stunning usage of effects, interrupting breaks and acoustic instrumentation. economically used sampling and distraction add up the
tracks, a style architect is known for since the beginning. this is state-of-the-art electronic sound inseminated with sweat, sex and aspiration, showing myer's ability to push a few knobs and get a highly concentrated extract of sweat, pain and lust.

architect went out shopping to get some noise - but he found out that noise was out of stock. but what do we have here? has daniel myer, the architect mastermind, found some noise to trade?
'analysis…' combines the roughness of 'galactic supermarket' and 'i went out shopping... - the result is a balance between breaks, sound-bits and ambience. however, this combination may be more subtle than first realized - for example, track 2 starts very calm (although you can already hear distorted bass) but it is the one which sets 'the analysis's direction: a straight but syncopated attack which includes breaks, clicks, vocals and - noise!
vocals and vocal samples have become more important for architect. for this release, vocals are embedded and are reminiscent of d.myers pre-architectural work in the more 'popular' area. a nice side effect is that it is an exciting alternative to the mostly instrumental idm scene. check out 'if jim would jam with richie' and you will be convinced!
an album as excellent as previous architect works - fully satisfying indoor and outdoor listeners. finally daniel got some noise - what consequence this analysis might have in the future? stay tuned...

yesterday, i went out shopping to get some noise. hmmm…noise.
today, the galactic supermarket had lots of great offers - but i went out shopping to get some noise, and there was no noise at all. hmmmmm .... noise?
i asked some friends for help and klima found a loopish 3/4 pattern with nice breaks, it was quite unusual and I had to add it to the cart! displacer recommended a straight forward piece, with crystal-clear synth-sounds - catchy.. okay, add this one too! benny came over and said "hey daniel check this one! nice rhythm, eh? listen to the breakbeats, soundtrackish voice samples and filters - reminds me a bit of the "transfer" track by the german project...uh, forgot the name... do you like it?" "what the hecq... ah-pretty good, okay!" hmmm.. no noise yet, but this guy over there... do i know him? "hi, i'm lucas. check this straight uptempo breakbeat dance tune... nice, eh?" "yupp - ehmmm... do you know benny?" "uhmmmm.... noooo.... but will you take this track?" "uhm-yeah-ok." klima came back, carrying another straight ahead piece spiced with irritating background loops and breaks. alright – the shopping cart was almost full, but - where's that hmmmmm... noise ??? the stupid anus behind the counter was incapable of helping, he kept telling me that "noise is out of stock". "noise!!!" i yelled, so he checked the warehouse over and over again – eventually he found some straight ahead tek-stuff containing distorted breaks, looped voices and sequenced... noise!! "how much for all of this?" "¥46, please". "okay, here you go".

recently, hymen was able, using an overly complicated and ridiculously expensive neural monitoring process, to uncover the following thought transmissions from the soma-filled mind of daniel myer regarding his new architect album, i went out shopping to get some noise. of course, it’s translated from myer’s native german, but that, too, was done at great expense and at risk of life and limb:
today, i went out shopping to get some noise. hmmm…noise.
been shopping alone at experimental outfitters s’apex, ebm clearing house cleaner, and club-centric drum’n’bass hexer shop, and with friends at the futuristic drum’n’bass outlet dots + dashes, arty newt boutique, and the highly-regarded post-industrial noise establishment known as haujobb. wicked time shopping, to be honest about it…mass consumption of beats and breaks, all of it ice-hardened with technoid edge.
but today, gotta shop at architect…haven’t been here since galactic supermarket…gotta find the downtempo drum’n’bass digs i dug up the last time i was here…mostly it was modified breakbeats with a scent of panacea’s nouveau-terror crack patterns, but not as constrictive and painful as hellfish or doormouse.
galactic supermarket was ace - very break-centric - but today, i went out shopping to get some noise…an entirely different sound. hmmm…noise.
still all about the breaks, but now, it’s mutant synthpop rhythms and digitized machine crunching like autechre on “unlike” or “dievorce” a dark dose of beethoven’s moonlight sonata shaken - not stirred - over crackling percussion and pizzicato string bass with thick atmospheric details. fierce acid 303 jackhammer beats a’la afx and caustic window on “colorfusion” or better yet, why not a plate full of proper detroit techno blended with classic industrial noise th...
