Press Release “Wax Wings Will Burn” is the third full-length album from the monstrously seductive act SHIV-R. The duo comprised of Pete Crane and Ben Bulig has carved out a name as an “elegant yet hard-hitting” force in the industrial landscape with club-staples such as “Parasite” and “Pharmaceutical Grade” haunting alternative dancefloors the world over. Through festival shows and headlining tours throughout Europe and America the band have delivered their provocative visuals and high-energy stage show to thousands of stomping feet, and their flamboyantly dark visual edge combined with harsh yet dynamic music has lead the press to coin the term "Lace Industrial" to describe their unique genre. With their previous EP “Shadow Between Worlds”, SHIV-R hinted at a more evolved approach, combining the high-octane aggression of songs such as “Talent for Violence” with more intimate and vocally expressive songs such as “Blood Rose”; a song which Thomas Rainer of NACHTMAHR called ‘the best industrial ballad of the past years’. “Wax Wings Will Burn” doesn’t stand in the way of this evolution and delivers sounds as diverse as the dirty electro of “Eye of the Needle”, the industrial aggression of “Shadow With a Voice” and the psychological horror-inducing sound design of the closing piece “Lifelike”.
Press Release Hard-hitting yet elegant, SHIV-R is the monstrously seductive project of Australian-born musicians Pete Crane and Ben Lee Bulig. The band forge a unique aural and visual aesthetic, creating a world of fear, aggression and self-expression to confront the shadows within ourselves. In 2010, SHIV-R's debut album "Hold My Hand" established the band as a new industrial force, fueled by harsh electronics and encompassed by haunting, neoclassical sonic tendrils, with hits such as "Parasite" and "The End" becoming clubfloor staples the world over. In 2011, the 2nd full-length album "This World Erase" extended the band's sonic arsenal with the dramatic, depth-charged groove of "Incision", the slow, grinding dirge of "This Fix" and a more evolved lyrical approach attacking themes such as nihilism, the romanticisation of abuse and above all waging a war on apathy. No stranger to club hits, Shiv-r tread this ground stronger and heavier than ever with plenty of harsh club annihilators destined for the dancefloor. Haunting, neoclassical tendrils also encompass the brutal clubsounds while a more evolved lyrical and vocal approach attacks themes such as nihilism, the romanticisation of abuse and above all waging a war on apathy. Press Release Shiv-r is a new force in the field of dark electronic music. The heavy and unsettling atmosphere generated by the band is at times intended for the clubs, and at times drawn to a slow, grinding pace for full dramatic impact. The key characteristics of the Shiv-r sound are haunting, neoclassical melodies, harsh percussive club sounds, clean male vocals delivered in shouts and whispers, sparse rhythm guitars and an overwhelming dark atmosphere. The duo consists of Lee Bulig and Pete Crane, with both collaborating on the music and Pete taking up main vocal duties.
